Job Description
Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity

The primary role will be carrying out general Plumbing and Maintenance activities. The Plumber will be expected to be involved in planning, organizing, directing and controlling activities and operations as both part of a crew and individually assigned tasks. All work is completed to the satisfaction of customers and all targets (productivity, quality and safety) are met.

The Plumber will be expected to work ‘hands on’ and at times. As the role develops there is potential for the Plumber to undertake minor project management and develop to a supervisor’s position.

To support Downer’s operational delivery by;

  • Zero Harm above all else
  • Working under the direction (direct or indirect) of your designated leader undertaking works related to the delivery of service and /or projects
  • Working within the parameters relevant to the work, e.g. time, materials, costs, resources.
  • Promoting strong collaborative customer relationships with positive interactions and value adding activities
  • Assisting in the generation of specifications, engineering, designing, scoping, costing and quoting of solutions as requested
  • Working within, and assist with, risk and event management and mitigation guidelines.
  • Promoting business according to our Values
  • Ensuring your assigned works is coordinated and undertaken in an efficient, compliant manner

  • Practical experience – Registered Certified Plumber
  • Able to deal with unexpected events/make decision / provide direction to work teams.
  • Shows willingness/provides solutions to assist with a “continual improvement” philosophy.
  • Organized and systematic approach to working environment

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
