What are we looking for:

Our ESS team are looking for a Permanent Full-Time Catering Assistant to join our team at the RNZAF-Ohakea.

This is not your average Catering Assistant opportunity - this is a chance to challenge yourself in a unique environment while working with premium service and product.

RNZAF Ohakea is located within the Manawatu district, 26 km west of Palmerston North and 48km from Whanganui and 24 km from Marton and Feilding. With some of the best fly fishing, hunting, great walks, skiing and mountain bike trails in the country within easy reach of your doorstep it's an outdoor enthusiast's dream. This busy diverse Airforce Base is the Hub of the air wing in New Zealand and offers a unique chance and insight into the military world of Officer and senior/junior ranks training.

Come work in one of NZ's top outdoor regions Manawatu / Ruapehu - Home to Tongariro National Park and Whanganui National Park and two New Zealand Great Walks, Fishing beaches, there's plenty to see and do in in this area all year-round.

You will be responsible for:

  • waiting/clearing tables,
  • dishwashing, pot washing,
  • receiving deliveries and unloading
  • assisting with food preparation
  • providing professional customer service
  • assisting with general kitchen and cleaning duties.


Skills and experience:

If you're our perfect candidate, you will be an energetic person with a great customer service and team player focus. You will be a multitasker, organised, hardworking, with a friendly outgoing personality and a 'can do' attitude. You will also have a full NZ Drivers Licence.

Ideally you will already have some experience working in a similar position and hold a food safety (Unit Standard 167) or be happy to train for one.
