Job Description

Team Leader
Our client is New Zealand's leading marquee and event hire specialist. Locally owned, they supply marquees, furniture, lighting and glassware to their customers for weddings, corporate, major events, festivals and community events - nationwide.

We are currently seeking a Team Leader with marquee installation/dismantle experience and a passion for the events industry. The successful candidate will ensure that marquee installation and dismantle is carried out to the agreed quality and safety standards, within the expected timeframe. Responsible for managing and co-ordinating staff on-site to deliver results that meet and exceed customer expectations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Customer liaison, reporting to the Branch and Warehouse Managers daily
  • Facilitate the installation and dismantle of marquees
  • Responsible for site set-up, tidiness and safety
  • Deliver all hire products and marquees within the expected timeframe
  • Load vehicles with the correct hire product, verifying the contents of inventory loads against the customer invoice
  • Manage and co-ordinate staff on site and deal with any conflict effectively
  • Support staff with on-the-job training and provide feedback to management to assist with staff progression
  • Ensure all tools, equipment, products and vehicles are kept clean and in working order and are operated safely at all times
  • Report any Health and Safety matters, damaged equipment, products, tools or vehicles to the Branch Manager immediately
  • Prioritise workload to ensure work of the greatest importance to the business is undertaken with urgency and to a high standard
  • Support and contribute to develop a positive workplace culture


Job requirements:
Good people management skills with the ability to motivate staff and manage conflict effectively
A high level of physical fitness and ability to lift heavy items
Willingness to travel within New Zealand to fulfil the requirements of the role

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous supervisory experience within a similar role
  • Experience with marquee installation/dismantle and a passion for the events industry
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • A high level of customer service and professionalism at all times
  • Strong organisational and multi-tasking skills
  • Full, clean class 1 Drivers Licence (class 2 licence would be extremely advantageous)
  • Ability to drive both manual and automatic transmission
  • Current Forklift License is preferred (F+OSH)

  • This is a full-time position, providing a minimum of 30 hours per week. Due to the nature of the role, some travel may be required to service other regions outside of Canterbury.
