AFFCO Napier process Beef hides from all around New Zealan, they are currently seeking a Maintenance Shift Fitter to join their team based in the sunny Hawkes Bay.

The area is a superb lifestyle location for those interested in the outdoors, good fishing and of course, is one of New Zealand’s prime wine growing areas.

Job Description

The position is responsible for ensuring that the plant assets are managed and maintained in a way that enhances the company’s short- and long-term objectives.

We operate a small but effective team of 3 engineers with support from a contract Electrical company for electrical support. We also use external Engineering contractors for capital works.

You will need to have excellent communication skills and have the ability to meet tight deadlines ensuring production efficiency is maximized.

Good digital computing skills will be required for programmed maintenance systems, on line health and Safety systems. The hide production runs Monday to Saturday with the tanning operation running 24hrs, 7 days.

You will also be able to demonstrate the following key requirements for the role.

  • Work amongst the existing small but well-skilled Team.
  • Be able to work rotating shift structure and be available for call- outs.
  • Ensure production departments experience minimal downtime due to engineering/maintenance issues.
  • Strong organizational skills which compliment the need to manage a variety of priorities and standards.
  • Hold a current mechanical engineer qualification and have general factory maintenance experience in an industrial environment.
  • A basic understanding of PLC operated equipment would be an advantage, as there is a high level of automation of the production machinery site.
  • Experience in machining, welding, diagnostics, hydraulics and pneumatics would also be an advantage.


Qualifications

Experience in the Tannery Business would be preferable although training time will be given to the successful applicant. Applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand.
