Job Description

We are looking for a Creative Lead (Art Director) to join our successful creative, production and social studio. What we do: We are an Auckland and Wellington based creative, production studio.

We are storytellers and makers for the brave new world. We unlock the ideas and creative solutions that bridge the gap between traditional agency models and modern marketing.

Our heartland is in digital and social storytelling but as a team of resourceful doers, there’s almost no mode we can’t solve for. We do it all: Content strategy, social ideation and production, PR and influencer, partnerships and collaborations, activations, ATL campaigns and everything in between.

We are lucky to work with a bunch of amazing and iconic NZ Brands. What we believe: We believe that brands and organisations have stories to tell, hear, share and reflect. And that conventional agency models aren’t meeting all their needs. We believe in creativity that starts in a different place.

That stories need to be told with a fresh lens on people, culture, channels and algorithms. We believe that craft is equally as important as concept. Our production-up mindset means we always think about the ‘how’ when we are dreaming up the ‘what’.

What we are looking for:

  • A Creative Lead (or Senior Art Director ready to take the leap up) to join our nimble, non-traditional creative production team. With strong ideation, art direction and production experience, you know how to create campaigns and content with impeccable storytelling and craft.
  • Flexing across a variety of clients and industries, while resonating with audiences across social, digital, experiential and traditional formats. Breakout Room is not like a normal agency.
  • We need a decisive, quick thinker who understands ‘time is money’ and doesn’t sweat the small stuff. You can: Lead creative from initial ideation through to execution. Delivering campaign thinking to one-off content ideas, with great storytelling and craft.
  • Be as comfortable crafting a TVC as ideating influencer content.
  • You’ll be as adept at creating standout PR campaigns that drive the news agenda as you are whipping up social content that outperforms benchmark.
  • Confidently articulate your ideas – both written and verbally, to the wider team and presenting to clients.
  • Collaborate with wider media, social & production teams.
  • Alongside a network of freelancers and production partners.
  • You’ll be working closely with our GM, content producers, event producers, stylists, photographers, designers and media teams.

You are:

  • A creative thinker with practical production experience.
  • Ideally you have big communications agency experience and a desire to apply that across a raft of content platforms.
  • Comfortable ideating solo or collaborating with the wider team dependent on brief.
  • Creatively ambitious.
  • You’ll have a desire to push boundaries and do your very best work, even if the budgets are small or the briefs are narrow. Because you know there’s still great creative opportunities within these.
  • A lover of all things production and craft. This is an awesome opportunity to MAKE lots of beautiful work, rolling up your sleeves to get stuck in.

In the know on social, cultural and design trends. A flexible, fun team player! This is a wonderful opportunity to work closely with a non-traditional creative team and wider group of top-notch production partners. A bit of you? Lets talk…
