The Company: Our client is a medical equipment supplier and for over 20 years they have delivered high quality, cutting-edge solutions to the NZ healthcare sector. They supply a range of capital equipment as well as a large range of consumables, primarily focused around the surgical sector.
They offer prompt, efficient, knowledgeable service, that is supported by a team of skilled technicians and dedicated customer service professionals.
The Opportunity: As they continue to grow, our client is looking to strengthen their presence in the South Island by appointing an experienced Business Development Manager / Account Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a key territory and expand the company’s market presence and drive business growth by securing new opportunities and building lasting relationships within the healthcare industry.
The Role: This role will be focused on driving business growth. We are looking for individuals with strong expertise in all facets of business development, as well as expanding opportunities within existing customer accounts.
It is therefore important for us to attract someone who is a confident and experienced Hunter, skilled in identifying and securing new business, while also embodying the key qualities of a Farmer—nurturing customer relationships and maximizing revenue by increasing the "share of wallet" within their accounts.
The Role in more detail: As a Medical Equipment Sales Specialist, you will work closely with healthcare providers across both public and private sectors to:
Identify and secure new business, as well as mange existing accounts.
Increase the uptake of consumables as well as working on capital equipment projects.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with medical professionals, including surgical teams, charge nurses, and purchasing officers to understand their needs and provide solutions to meet these.
Manage a sales pipeline, with regular follow-ups with prospects, nurturing them into long-term customers.
Quickly master the product line, so that you can provide expert knowledge and support to your customers, becoming an invaluable resource
Perform regular customer surveys to identify opportunities for introducing new products and increasing revenue.
Plan and manage your time, to balance both new business and account management activities.
Provide in depth product training sessions for hospital and clinic personnel, one on one, or in workshops
Be involved in product demonstrations and trials.
Work closely with internal teams to ensure an exceptional customer experience.
Achieve sales targets and contribute to the company’s ongoing success in the region.
This is a client facing role. You will be out talking to new and existing customers. No desk jockeys please!
About You:
Proven sales experience, from within the medical or healthcare sector.
Experience selling medical devices or equipment is a great bonus.
Familiarity with hospital and private clinics buying processes
Confident in prospecting and new business activities.
Your engaging personality enables you to open doors of opportunity and build on business relationships
Resilient and tenacious, unfazed by rejection.
Proactive. You prefer to be out visiting customers than sitting behind a desk.
Skilled in planning and managing an effective sales strategy and pipeline.
Eager to grow your product knowledge to provide the right solutions to your customers.
Technically savvy, with the ability to learn and explain technical details easily (especially electrical—knowing Ohm’s Law is a plus!).
You are Self-Motivated and Accountable. You don’t need your hand held, or to be managed.
Proficient using a CRM. Confident MS Office Suite
Able to travel over night as well as to other regions for 3-4 nights at a time
