About the opportunity:
This is a unique leadership opportunity with a dynamic and well-established financial services organisation, renowned for its innovation and strong market presence. We are seeking a passionate, forward-thinking General Manager to lead a growing division focused on building and expanding embedded insurance and strategic partnerships.

This is not a “caretaker” role—you’ll be shaping a business unit from the ground up. You’ll develop a clear, actionable strategy to embed new products into large external partner’s customer experience/ecosystems, leveraging your proven track record in business development, traditional group insurance, direct distribution, and building strategic alliances.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Set the vision & strategy: Own the end-to-end development of an embedded distribution strategy that places tailored insurance propositions within a partner’s customer experience. You’ll identify opportunities and create an actionable plan to embed products with key industry partners.
  • Lead, build & scale: Manage and mentor a small team initially, with a mandate to grow and scale as the business matures. You’ll foster a culture of agility, continuous improvement, and results-driven performance.
  • Drive innovation: Challenge the status quo and bring fresh thinking to an unserved market. Your insights will be integral to forging new product opportunities—whether from Funds Management, Life Insurance, Health Insurance, Kiwisaver or similar sectors.
  • Group Life portfolio: Manage, evaluate and optimise the existing Group Life portfolio.

  • Proven leadership in direct distribution: You’ve led and scaled direct sales or partnership-driven business units in the financial services sector.
  • Strategic and commercial mindset: You’re comfortable turning broad vision into tangible roadmaps, backed by commercial acumen and a sharp eye for growth opportunities.
  • Business development flair: You have a strong network, can navigate complex negotiations, and know how to build enduring strategic relationships.
