We are looking for a someone to join us at Cashmere Home as our Food Services Team Leader, to manage the smooth running of our kitchen and the kitchen team. Mealtimes are an important part of our day, it's when our residents come together and connect with each other and we like to ensure they enjoy the food as much as the company at the table.

About the role

In Cashmere’s kitchen, you can expect busy and varied days with a supportive team to get the job done. Whilst there is always a lot going on, we offer a great work life balance - working Monday to Friday 9'30am to 6pm, so no long or anti-social hours in this role! You will be responsible for the day to day preparation and cooking of meals in the kitchen, and co-ordination of the Weekend Cook and Kitchen Hands. You will be creating an enjoyable living environment by providing tasty nutritious meals, which meet dietary needs, in a hygienic and organised kitchen. As the Foods Services Team Leader you will ensure that resources are managed in a cost-effective manner, as well as budgeting and reducing wastage. You will have knowledge in and experience in practicing food safety regulations, ensure that hygiene standards are upheld and the kitchen and its products are safe.

About you

As well as a passion for working in an environment where you can contribute to making a difference to our Elders living at Cashmere Home. You will be calm and well organised person with great interpersonal skills, and the ability to create tasty nutritional meals. You will enjoy getting know the people you prepare meals for, providing them with quality meal options. In addition, you will have:

  • City and Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NZQA 75/1 and 75/2, or certificate in hospitality level 4
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Ability to drive a manual van to deliver meals to our sister site Cashmere Heights
  • Excellent leadership skills, gained in a hospitality environment
  • Experience cooking for a variety of dietary requirements including modified meals
  • Ability to work flexibly to accommodate special events and celebrations within the Home
