The Information Request Service provides responses to requests for information received from members of the public, government agencies and other organisations made under the Official Information Act 1982, the Privacy Act 2020 and other legislation.

The Official Information Act (or OIA) creates a public right to access information held by government bodies, and the Privacy Act entitles individuals to access personal information held about them. Government bodies receiving requests under the OIA or the Privacy Act are required by law to respond no later than 20 working days after the request is received. The Information Request team processes over 55,000 requests every year, responding to 85% of all Police information requests received.

We are looking for a passionate Supervisor to lead and manage our Information Request staff and contribute to our Service Group priorities. In this role you will co-ordinate and manage service delivery of Police information requests and responsibilities, identify and mitigate all risks associated with information request processes and ensure accordance with relevant legislation, Police processes and policies.

The purpose of leadership in this role is to lead the activities for Our Business and enable our people to deliver them. As a dynamic and engaging leader, you will bring the best out of your people by actively leading and encouraging a high performing team that collaboratively works with each other.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Leadership of our organisational priorities and the strategy as captured in Our Business and the enablement of our people to deliver on it.
  • Sound understanding of legislation, policy, and guidelines relevant to our role, demonstrating your understanding of Our Business and how it fits into the Information Request team.
  • In-depth leadership skills to enable your team to deliver their best work, expand their knowledge, develop their skills and function as a high performing team.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Workflow management, geographical leading, competing priorities and the complex nature of information requests.
  • Have the critical thinking and problem-solving skills to make sound decisions.
  • Develop and maintain a wide range of positive working relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external) within the broader information request space.
  • Demonstrate a high level of verbal and written communication – able to effectively communicate with our people, partners, and community.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and be adaptive to changing priorities and demands.
  • Cultural competence, understanding and empathy.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $102,808 and $108,894 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
