Technology – Markets is a team of around 20 primarily focused on BNZ’s Markets business and their supporting partners teams. Located in the Wellington and Auckland dealing rooms, there’s frequent engagement with the business we support. The team has substantial wholesale financial markets business acumen.

The successful candidate will become a member of a team of two supporting and developing our MIDAS application. You’ll typically interact directly with our business users gathering requirements and developing quality solutions within the guardrails of Technology’s risk and compliance environment. Demand always outstrips supply given what MIDAS does and the number of other bank systems it has interfaces with. Application production support is also part of the role.

What are 5 day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?

  • System Availability Monitoring: Ensure the MIDAS system is operational and available for business users at the start of each business day.
  • Incident Management: Respond promptly to user inquiries and resolve issues within established Service Level Agreements (SLAs), providing timely and effective support.
  • Problem Management: Identify, analyse, and resolve root causes of recurring incidents, implementing permanent fixes to prevent future occurrences and improve overall system stability.
  • Change Management: Gather user requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs.
  • Vendor Collaboration: Collaborate with our third-party service provider to address hardware and infrastructure-related issues, ensuring minimal system downtime.
  • Audit and Compliance Support: Participate in scheduled audit reviews, respond to requests and provide evidence ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

You’ll need to be a self-starter that takes ownership and manages to a successful conclusion. I’ll always be open to discuss problems provided you’ve got your thoughts on what the solutions might be.

What technical skills are REQUIRED for this role?

If you’re highly skilled in IBM and CL/RPG and have a depth of knowledge on financial markets application on this environment, you might be the right candidate for this role.

What will success look like for the candidate in this role?

Prior experience in supporting and maintaining the MIDAS application is highly desirable, as it will enable you to hit the ground running and make an immediate impact in this role.
