Job Description

Bay Venues …. Haven’t heard of us? Not to worry; I bet you have heard of some of the venues we own or operate – the iconic Mount Hot Pools, Baywave, or Mercury Baypark to name a few. As the kaitiaki of 24 facilities in Tauranga Moana, we proudly offer a range of activities and experiences intended to put a smile on the dial of our community.

Here at Bay Venues, we are all about ensuring we create memorable moments - and we do so intentionally through connection and fun with each other and our community. Our values of Manaakitanga (Service), Whakawhanaungatanga (Relationships), Kaitiakitanga (Caring) and He Toi Tangata (Excellence) are lived on the daily as we strive to enhance the wellbeing of the people we serve. It’s no small feat, but we know that when we facilitate connections and collaborate with others, great things will happen!

Bay Catering is a premier catering service renowned for delivering exceptional culinary experiences across the Bay of Plenty region. We specialise in a diverse array of events, from intimate gatherings to large-scale functions, consistently exceeding our clients' expectations. We are seeking an experienced catering Chef to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Menu Development & Execution: Design and execute event-specific menus that are both innovative and aligned with client requirements, incorporating seasonal and local ingredients to enhance flavour and presentation.
  • Operational Leadership: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, including staff management, workflow optimization, and adherence to production timelines under tight event schedules.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure all culinary practices align with New Zealand food safety regulations and health standards, maintaining a spotless record of hygiene and operational excellence.
  • Inventory & Resource Management: Supervise inventory processes, manage supplier relationships, and ensure cost-effective procurement without compromising quality.
  • Team Development: Lead, train, and inspire a dynamic kitchen team, fostering an environment of collaboration, continuous learning, and professional growth.
  • Client-Centric Solutions: Tailor dishes to accommodate diverse dietary requirements and preferences, ensuring an inclusive culinary experience for all guests.

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required by event schedules. These could be scheduled any time between Monday and Friday, Midnight to midnight as required.
  • Valid New Zealand driver's license or the ability to obtain one.

Permanent offer:

We have put together a bunch of perks to support our culture of connection and fun. Ones that reinforce that we are part of the awesome leisure and events industry, and all the magic that comes along with that. Our benefits include:
