Key Responsibilities:

As a Payroll Manager, your primary responsibility will be guiding a small team to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing. You will handle everything from updating personnel records in our payroll system to consulting with staff on payroll-related queries. Your expertise in calculating pay, tax, deductions, and other aspects of retributions will be crucial. Ensuring compliance with all employment laws will also fall under your purview. Additionally, you will manage staff expense processing.

  • Guide a small team to deliver timely and accurate payroll processing
  • Ensure all payroll transactions are accurately collated and processed promptly
  • Arrange for staff to be paid correctly and in sync with their pay cycle
  • Regularly update and maintain personnel records in our payroll system
  • Consult with staff regarding payroll related queries
  • Calculate pay, tax, deductions, and all aspects of retributions using our payroll system
  • Ensure compliance with all employment laws
  • Staff expense processing


Key Requirements:

The ideal candidate for this Payroll Manager position brings a wealth of experience in NZ payroll legislation along with excellent analytical skills. With at least 3 years' experience in a similar role within a NZ company, you understand the importance of accuracy and organisation. Your ability to handle confidential data professionally is paramount. You thrive under pressure and have proven experience guiding a small team. Your excellent communication skills complement your problem-solving abilities and eye for process improvement.

  • Exceptional working knowledge of Holidays Act and NZ Payroll legislation
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Payroll role in a NZ company
  • Honesty and reliability, with professional discretion when handling confidential data
  • Analytical, organised and accurate approach, with an eye for detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure and guide a small team
  • Excellent record-keeping skills, particularly accurate at data entry
  • Capability of prioritising deadlines
  • Problem-solving skills with an eye for process improvement
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Team management experience
  • System implementation experience desired
