Job Description

Mō te tūranga | About the Role
The Service Owner (SO) is the owner/operator running a ‘business’ within our technology Service Group and is responsible for delivering a service on a day-to-day and sprint-to-sprint basis. They work closely with internal customers to understand their needs, and define the service vision, roadmap, and backlog, utilising prioritisation framework for effective trade-off decisions.

The SO is responsible for defining stories and prioritising the team backlog to streamline the execution of our Quarterly Planning Process requirements while maintaining the conceptual and technical integrity of the service features or components for the team.

This will include:

  • Ensuring the squad has the resources it requires to operate and deliver its service, and that these resources are optimised and return financial and non-financial value to both the service customers and the organisation.
  • Being accountable for the necessary people (internal and external) and technology resources supporting the delivery and enhancement of the service.
  • Owning the build (requirements and design), run, enhancement and entire lifecycle of the service within the Service Group.
  • Supporting Major Production Incidents working along with Major Incident Managers using deep technical problem-solving skills.
  • Being available for production support on an on-call roster, as and when required.
  • Making the design and build decisions in the scope of a sprint within their delegation of authority and risk appetite.
  • Taking accountability for commercial agreements (contracts and supplier relationship) relevant to the service (SoW’s, Vendors, etc)
  • Leading the service vision for the squad and work with them to ensure that all solutions are delivered to scope, budget and time.
  • Establishing governance processes and mechanisms to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies.

  • Hands on experience in SAS Viya and cloud solutions is a must for this role
  • Managing large scale platform modernisation activity and migration on-premises platforms to Cloud Platforms experience is an advantage
  • In depth knowledge of SAS analytics products is an advantage
  • Hand on experience in understanding Total Cost of Ownership in managing Cloud infrastructure is an advantage
  • Hands on experience with workflow management and capacity planning is a essential
  • Demonstrated experience within data platform environments, as well as leading programs of change and capability development in a large complex organisation
  • Experience undertaking service design and development, working with the business to define requirements and outcomes. Ability to produce effective measures and metrics
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts and articulate these to others in a way they will understand
  • Experience in presenting at roadshows, workshops and stakeholder sessions to showcase products and services
  • Knowledge and experience of Data Platform and AI fundamentals, enterprise IT and risk management
  • An understanding of banking/finance industry standards and regulations
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to interface and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders and personality types
  • Effective leadership skills including the ability to listen to and communicate with team members to influence, motivate and inspire
  • Relevant degree, professional qualification(s) and/or equivalent work experience
  • At least 3 years Agile product or service ownership experience
