The University of Auckland is New Zealand’s leading University. With over 6000 academic and professional staff supporting over 46,000 students, we are one of NZ’s largest employers. We have eight academic faculties and 11 service divisions creating a diverse, dynamic and complex organisational culture that demands excellence.

The University of Auckland creates globally transformative impacts through our distinctive strengths in world leading research, scholarship, teaching and collaborative partnerships, inspired by our unique position in Aotearoa New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific.

Our mission and values place a strong emphasis on both our student body and our scholarly community, and we work with both community and enterprise to advance the well-being of the peoples of Auckland and New Zealand, with a clear commitment to pursuing sustainability.

Job Description
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

This people-oriented position will give you excellent hands-on experience engaging members of our rainbow communities for population health research. Specifically, you will be assisting the Sex and Prevention of Transmission Study (SPOTS) team to recruit participants (primarily men who have sex with men, MSM) to complete a survey.

We’re looking for outgoing, organised individuals who are comfortable communicating with diverse peoples and wish to be part of an innovative study to improve HIV prevention and blood donation policy in Aotearoa. Experience working in customer facing roles, providing healthcare services, or lived experience in the rainbow community, is also highly desirable.

For this casual position, you’ll help our team enroll participants at a local pride event and local venues (Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Tauranga, Hamilton). We aim to be collecting data across Aotearoa New Zealand from February to April 2025.

This is a casual position so there will be no fixed hours (we anticipate approximately 8-20 hours total, including training). This is an ideal position for students looking for paid work experience on the side of their studies.
