Job Description

About the role

Our dedicated kitchen team are looking for an experienced and passionate Chef to join them on a full-time, permanent basis at our stunning retirement village, Waitakere Gardens, based in Henderson, West Auckland. You will be responsible for whipping up delicious quality meals and for our residents and visitors. Reporting to our Kitchen Manager, you will help lead our team ensuring the coordination of the kitchen is effortless.

This role is working total 40 hours per week, Wednesday to Sunday - 8-9 hours a day - hours will vary between 8.30am and 6.30 pm - no late nights plus our weekend allowance applies here for Saturday and Sunday!

Duties Include:

  • Creating delicious food in a restaurant environment
  • Coordinating the kitchen to ensure it operates effortlessly.
  • Maintaining a high standard of food with consistent portion sizes and outstanding presentation.
  • Using your leadership skills to support our kitchen team alongside our Kitchen Manager.


Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in a similar role - previous Aged Care experience would be an advantage
  • Commercial kitchen and or cafĂ© experience preferred.
  • Our chefs work in an open kitchen environment, and our residents interact with our Chefs regularly - so make sure you bring your outstanding customer service skills
  • Food industry qualification preferred but not required if candidate has relevant work experience.
  • Excellent food hygiene practices and personal presentation.
