Auckland Council Emergency Management has an opportunity for a 6-month fixed-term Emergency Management Advisor to join the team. This is a perfect opportunity if you are looking to break into the realm of emergency management services. This role is based in the Auckland city centre with some flexibility to work from home and will report to the Readiness Manager.

This is a critical role for ensuring our systems and resources are ready to respond in the event of an emergency. You will tackle the risk management policy, framework, procedures and systems to ensure the capability and competency of our business units and agency partners.

You could expect to work on:
• Developing and implementing emergency Logistics Plans and tasks alongside our Principal Supply Chain and Partnerships team.
• Work with our Senior Advisor-Volunteers to develop and maintain our Volunteer Programme; including health and safety management systems
• Contribute to the delivery of training and development programmes for AEM staff, elected members, volunteers, and agency partners

This role is well-suited to an excellent communicator who can translate complex information into concise messages. You will have excellent time-keeping skills and attention to detail.

Delivering on challenging outcomes, competent decision-making and sound judgement will feature in your skill set.

We are specifically looking for:
• Experience working in activations, Emergency Coordinate Centre or in a high-stress environment
• Excellent stakeholder management, fostering strong, trusted and collaborative relationships
• Public speaking, training or workshop facilitation experience
• Working understanding of the principles of the Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS) desired but not essential
