He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role
As our Fleet Operations Lead, you’ll be at the heart of KiwiRail’s vehicle fleet operations, ensuring our assets are managed efficiently and safely. With a fleet covering over 20 million kilometres annually, we’re embarking on an exciting transformation – and you’ll play a key role in driving change.
You’ll work across the organisation and with external partners to optimise fleet performance, manage suppliers, and contribute to strategic decision-making. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the future of KiwiRail’s fleet while making a tangible difference.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing fleet replacement schedules and ensuring timely vehicle delivery
- Conducting vehicle inspections and overseeing condition audits
- Supporting investigations into fleet-related safety incidents
- Monitoring utilisation and ensuring vehicles are deployed efficiently
- Strengthening supplier relationships to enhance service quality
Ngā pūkenga e rapu nei mātou | What you will bring
We’re looking for a problem-solver with strong commercial and fleet management experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
- 5+ years’ experience in fleet management or a related field
- Knowledge of New Zealand’s driver licence laws and road transport regulations
- Strong data analysis skills with experience using asset databases
- Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across all levels
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other fleet management tools
- A commitment to safety and risk management in all aspects of your work
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent industry experience is preferred
- Full Class 1 Valid Driver Licence & the ability to travel nationally
