Are you a hands-on recruiter about empowering individuals through employment? We are seeking an Employment Navigator (that's our name for a recruitment consultant) to join our brand-new team in Whangarei. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of a newly established office and play a key role in supporting our clients to transition into meaningful, long-term employment opportunities.

An Employment Navigator in our business is a professional who helps individuals, particularly those facing barriers to employment, navigate the complex process of finding and securing meaningful, long-term work. Solomon Group is a leading Māori Private Training Establishment (PTE) with over 30 years of experience in the education and training sector. Committed to empowering individuals to recognise and develop their potential in a respectful and supportive environment, we specialise in foundation skills and self-development programmes. Our mission is founded on the principle of ka mahi, ka ora (to work is to live).

We're expanding and growing, and this new office in Whangarei is part of our commitment to supporting local communities with new and impactful opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing one-on-one coaching and mentoring to students, guiding them through the job search process with empathy and understanding.
  • Facilitating CV and interview workshops to build students' employability skills and confidence.
  • Developing and nurturing strong relationships with employers to create job opportunities for our students.
  • Working towards and meeting contract KPIs to ensure the success of the programme.
  • Handling reporting and administrative tasks to monitor progress and ensure we meet our goals.

About You

We're looking for someone who is passionate about supporting people to succeed, and who has:

  • Experience working with a diverse range of clients, with an understanding of the unique needs of different communities.
  • A deep desire to help people realise their potential and succeed in their careers.
  • A proven track record of meeting KPIs and achieving results in a supportive, outcomes-driven environment.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and stay on top of administrative tasks.
  • A genuine understanding of, and respect for, Māori and Pacifica culture and values.

What We Offer:

  • A collaborative and inclusive work environment that values diversity and cultural heritage.
  • The chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of our clients and the community.
  • Flexible working arrangements to support work-life balance.
  • The opportunity to be part of a growing organisation and to help establish a new and vibrant office in Whangarei.

This position is based in Whangarei, a community you likely know well, with strong local ties and an understanding of the people we serve.

If you're driven, compassionate, and ready to make a meaningful difference, we'd love to hear from you, so please send a CV and cover letter explaining why you are suitable for this role.

Please Note:
We will not employ any person in a paid or voluntary capacity, (including on a management committee) who has a conviction for sexual crimes or for any offence involving the harm or exploitation of children.  The successful applicant will be required to do a Criminal Records check/Police Vetting Check and any offer is subject to the results of that check.
