Mō te tūnga | About the role
Supporting our teams operating on land, sea and in the air, New Zealand Police Media & Communications is tasked to keep our people and the public informed.

This role provides internal communications support to the Auckland City District Commander and their staff.
Your audience is the workforce across Auckland City District – from Glen Innes to Great Barrier Island.

Your writing, photography, filming and multi-media products will be shared via our various channels.

Project, change and critical communications will also be part of your remit, to ensure our people receive high quality, engaging and timely messages.

You will be working alongside the Police staff in Auckland City District and well supported by an existing network of fellow district communications advisors across New Zealand.

You will be reporting to the national Media & Communications team.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Help deliver on the Commissioner’s priorities.
  • Support our trust and confidence objectives.
  • Source, create and maintain communications.
  • Provide advice on risk and opportunity and contribute to the leadership team.
  • Ensure staff get the information they need, in a way they can easily access.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Experience delivering internal communications, campaigns and projects.
  • Experience supporting senior leaders and a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft and Adobe products desirable.
  • Full NZ Driver license.

To be eligible for this role, you must have or be able to maintain a SECRET national security clearance.
The minimum criteria for this level of national security clearance is:
NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or:

  • A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or
  • A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.

  Utu ā-tau | Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $110,425 and $117,014 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
