Te Wero – The Challenge
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for:
Leading and managing the investigation, monitoring, and enforcement of various acts and bylaws, including the Resource Management Act, Local Government Act, Land Transport Act, Reserves Act, Litter Act, District Plan, and Council Bylaws.
Ensuring that all investigations are conducted to the highest standard, with evidence gathered in accordance with the Solicitor-General’s prosecution guidelines to meet the test for prosecution.
Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and bylaws, including the Resource Management Act, Building Act, Building (Pools) Amendment Act, Local Government Act, Land Transport Act, and other associated legislation.

We're seeking a candidate with:
A degree or diploma in law, law enforcement, resource management, or building surveying
An understanding of local government operations and structures is desirable
Investigation skills and knowledge of relevant legislation (Resource Management Act, Local Government Act, Building Act)
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Physical fitness and a valid driver's license
Strong negotiation, health & safety, and communication skills
Excellent organizational abilities and a commitment to customer service
Ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships and a focus on continual improvement.

The salary for this position is Grade 18 within Council's salary structure (Band: $97,811 to $115,071 pro rata per annum) dependent on qualifications and experience, plus Kiwi Saver.
