The Parks, Sport, and Recreation (PSR) business unit is a high-performing, multifunctional unit responsible for a wide range of business outputs. We provide indoor and outdoor sport, recreation, and play opportunities, protect and enhance our natural environment, and work in partnership with our sporting, recreation, and environmental communities to contribute to Wellington's reputation as an active, healthy, and attractive place to live, work, play and visit.
Behind the scenes are our Assets and Projects team who plays a key role in developing and maintaining open space and recreational assets by delivering both operational and capital projects. They also manage critical asset information data, providing valuable insights into the performance and condition of our assets.
And to help in this important mahi, we are hunting for an energetic Programme Manager - Facilities to take the lead on upgrading and maintaining Wellington's much-loved parks, and recreation facilities. Whether it's our stunning waterfront, aquatic centres, or community recreation centres, you'll be at the heart of managing work that impacts thousands of people every day.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead with Impact: Lead a passionate team, creating a culture of excellence, growth, and innovation. Empower your team to deliver outstanding results while fostering their professional development.
- Project Success: Oversee the successful implementation of facility maintenance, capital renewal, and upgrade projects across a wide range of buildings from recreation centres to sports facilities, cemeteries to public toilets. You'll be across it all!
- Engage & Inspire: Drive collaborative working relationships with stakeholders at every stage of the project, ensuring everyone is aligned and working towards a shared vision.
- Manage the Budget: Be the financial steward of your projects, overseeing budgets and ensuring the delivery of cost-effective, high-quality outcomes.
- Tackle Challenges: Identify and manage risks while ensuring every project adheres to the highest safety and quality standards.
- Customer-Centric Leadership: With a customer-first mentality, ensure that every project you manage benefits the communities we serve and elevates the experience for everyone who interacts with our facilities.
What We're Looking For:
- Project and Programme Management: You've got experience running projects or programmes preferably in facilities management or asset development. You understand what it takes to make things happen.
- Financially Savvy: You've successfully managed budgets, making sure projects come in on time, on budget, and to the highest standard.
- Relationship Builder: Whether it's a contractor, consultant, or a community member, you can communicate clearly, collaborate easily, and build strong, productive relationships.
- Risk Whiz: You can spot potential risks from a mile away and know exactly how to navigate around them to keep everything on track.
- Qualifications & Experience: You have a relevant qualification (or equivalent experience) in project management, facility management, architecture, engineering, or a related field.
