We're seeking dynamic and experienced Logistics and Safety Manager with a keen interest in operational excellence and Lean methodology, to join our business as we drive an exciting programme forward in New Zealand and for New Zealand.

This role is crucial in planning, coordinating and managing multiple points in a cold-chain food distribution network across the country, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and maintaining high standards of operational excellence. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams, partners, suppliers, and schools to coordinate deliveries, manage inventory, and implement safety protocols.

Ko o kawenga / Your responsibilities:

  • Logistical Oversight: Manage forecasting, ordering, receiving, storing, and dispatching of food products. Plan and coordinate the cold chain distribution between the centralised manufacturing site, regionalised storage locations and service delivery sites from the far North to the deep South and everywhere in between.
  • Health and Safety Management: Develop and maintain health, safety, and food safety policies. Conduct risk assessments and safety audits across the distribution network. Lead training programmes and manage emergency response and business continuity plans.
  • Administrative / Financial Duties: Maintain records, prepare reports, and assist with daily operational activities. Handle billing procedures, process receipts, and prepare dispatch reports. Coordinate invoice reconciliation and complete month-end procedures
  • Relationship and Customer Engagement: Ensure our customers feel valued and safe by coordinating a network of distribution activities to be delivered on-time and safely. Form lasting relationships with internal and external network partners to ensure we are achieving the best outcome for our customers each day.
  • Operational Excellence: Introduce lean methodologies to maximise operational savings and efficiencies.. Enhance Compass Group's internal processes and systems to perform at their peak ability ensuring we are maximising each output in the network.


He kōrero mōu / About you:

  • Lean/Six Sigma experience in large scale production kitchen; logistics; warehousing or supply chain business
  • Kitchen Management experience at a senior level
  • Adaptable, problem solver with analytical approach
  • Great communicator to empower remote teams effectively
  • High computer literacy - ability to use IT systems to maintain efficient operations (ordering, stock management)
  • Full NZ Drivers Licence
  • Operational Excellence experience is desirable
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Logistics, Supply Chain, Warehousing or Business Management are desirable
