Are you a detail-oriented and proactive finance professional looking to make an impact in a collaborative and family-friendly environment? A client is seeking an Assistant Corporate Accountant to join their finance team on a fixed-term basis.

About the Role As the Assistant Corporate Accountant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting day-to-day accounting operations and contributing to the financial management of the business. You will assist with everything from general ledger accuracy to financial reporting, tax filings, and audit queries. This position is perfect for someone eager to grow their accounting expertise while working within a supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with NZ GAAP.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, creditors, debtors, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments to maintain general ledger accuracy.
  • Assist with GST, income tax, and other tax-related filings.
  • Provide support for budgeting, forecasting, and audit processes.
  • Participate in ad hoc financial projects as needed.


What You’ll Bring

  • At least 2+ years of experience in accounting or finance, ideally in a corporate environment.
  • Knowledge of NZ GAAP, IFRS, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Ongoing study towards a CA/CPA qualification is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work within tight deadlines.
