Job Description

Have meaningful impact as a Testing Lead

YOUR ROLE
Join IAG’s Commercial Enterprise Platform (CEP) program, a major initiative transforming intermediated and commercial insurance across Australia and New Zealand.

In this role you will define and execute the end to end (E2E) testing strategy for the CEP ecosystem. This spans a complex ecosystem of 20+ applications. You’ll lead the shift toward effective test automation, eliminating costly and slow manual testing. You will also guide the work of a small team of test engineers.

As part of the CEP Engineering team, you will work alongside environment and release engineers and be part of applying modern engineering practices to stream, automate, and enhance quality.

Success requires technical leadership, strong automation skills, and a strategic mindset. You'll work with diverse technologies and stakeholders, keeping the end-user experience at the core of your approach. You’ll also need strong communication and leadership skills.

Be part of a cutting-edge transformation, collaborate with top talent, and drive innovation in one of ANZ’s largest insurance modernization programs.

This is a permanent position based in any of our major centres across New Zealand or the East Coast of Australia.

ABOUT YOU
We are looking for the right person, with a good attitude who will be a solid team fit with the following skills and experiences: -

  • You have confidence engaging with senior program and platform stakeholders
  • A leader/leader mindset – collaborating rather than directing.
  • You have proven experience (e.g. 3 yrs +) in enabling complex, large scale business and technology change in corporate environments
  • You cultivate innovation within your team and colleagues, demonstrate and encourage life-long learning and continuous improvement
  • Your inter-personal skills enable you to collaborate, connect with and influence technical and business subject matter experts
  • You are an effective problem solver, and achieve the right balance between pragmatism and being overly pedantic
  • You have knowledge of test methods and how to drive quality and agility into organisations
  • Relevant industry or specialism qualifications
  • Confidence to independently solve abstract problems and achieve broad outcomes without relying on others to drive that
  • Experience with both UI and API test automation frameworks such as Selenium and Playwright.
  • Experience working in a variety of programming languages. JavaScript is nice to have.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment with good communication skills (for demos, etc.)
  • Strong written communication is critical for both interacting with stakeholders and for building and maintaining written assets.
  • Exposure and interest in modern ways of working such as DevOps, observability, and SRE principles will help you collaborate with and align with the wider team.
  • Experience in the insurance industry is a bonus.
  • Experience using the Guidewire suite of products is a bonus.
