In this key role, you will oversee the lounge's day-to-day operations, ensuring both front and back-of-house teams provide seamless, first-class service. You'll be a hands-on leader, managing staff, working directly on the floor when needed, and ensuring our guests enjoy a premium lounge experience.

This person will stay engaged through both the highs and lows, fostering a family-like work environment where everyone collaborates and supports each other. By prioritising professionalism and warmth, you'll help enhance team spirit and create a positive, uplifting atmosphere throughout the lounge staff.

Ko o kawenga / Your responsibilities:

  • Operational Excellence: Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of Duty Managers, Front Desk Hosts, and both Front and Back of House staff to maintain and elevate service standards.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with clients, and partners, ensuring expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Team Development: Deliver training and ongoing development for your team, promoting collaboration, efficiency, and high standards of performance and presentation.
  • Customer Experience: Ensure all guests receive an exceptional experience by addressing and resolving complaints, anticipating needs, and continually enhancing service delivery.
  • Food & Beverage Operations: Oversee food production and service to comply with Health & Safety and Food Safety regulations.
  • Financial Management: Manage budgets, stock control, cost of goods, and staffing rosters to ensure smooth operations within financial targets.
  • Buffet and Presentation Management: Collaborate with kitchen teams to design and present buffets, while ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with food safety, alcohol service, and occupational health and safety legislation while promoting a culture of safety within the team.

  • Leadership: Proven experience leading teams in a high-performance environment, such as a 5-star hotel, Fine Dining or Hotel Dining, Domestic or International Lounge Experience, Airline Experience or Hospitality Operation.
  • Hands-on Management: Willingness to work on the floor alongside your team, stepping in to support shifts as needed.
  • Customer-Centric: A commitment to exceeding guest expectations and delivering top-tier service every day. Stakeholder and Client Relationship experience is also necessary.
  • Strong Communicator: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage client relationships, train staff, and foster team cooperation.
  • Commercial Acumen: Understanding of budget management, stock control, and operational efficiency to optimize performance.
  • Compliance Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Occupational Health & Safety, food safety regulations, and Responsible Service of Alcohol.
  • Problem Solver: The ability to tackle operational challenges with professionalism, dedication, and a solutions-focused mindset.


Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing catering or hospitality contracts.
  • Familiarity with systems and procurement tools.
  • Relevant qualifications in hospitality, business, or a related field.
  • NZQA Food Handling Certificate (Units 167 & 168), Manager's Certificate, or similar qualifications.
