Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and passionate cook to join our team and take charge of our kitchen. As our Centre Cook, you will plan, prepare, and cook an appetising and culturally varied menu for the children, including morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea. You’ll need to be efficient with your time and have an excellent knowledge of foods that promote good nutrition and healthy eating for our tamariki as well as cater to dietary and cultural needs.

In this role, you will also be responsible for ordering to meet menu requirements within a set budget. Our ideal candidate will be able to create fresh, healthy, and vibrant menus while catering to children’s dietary, cultural, and religious needs and preferences.

You will have strong knowledge of health and safety practices in the kitchen, maintaining high standards of hygiene and housekeeping. A commitment to incorporating cultural diversity into menu planning is essential, along with a genuine passion for cooking, baking, and promoting healthy eating habits in children.

This is a permanent part time position working 35 hours Monday-Friday

  • Knowledge around health and safety in the kitchen and set high standards of hygiene and housekeeping
  • A passion for cooking and baking
  • An understanding of allergies and dietary requirements
  • Be computer literate in order to design menus and place orders each week
  • The ability to remain within the budgets of ordering food
  • A passion for promoting healthy eating for young children
