The Role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi
This is a permanent part-time Youth Worker role working 20hrs a week
We are looking for a creative and energised Youth Worker to work Monday and Wednesday 2:00pm-7:00pm, Tuesday (5hrs – time TBC), Thursday 8.00am -1.00pm (20hours total)

You will be responsible for co-facilitating the Real Talk Group programme and for providing our one-to-one community-based mentoring support.

About the Real Talk group programme
Real Talk is a 10 week programme for taiohi aged 12-24 years who need extra support around managing anxiety, depression and/or stress related behaviours.

It’s aimed at taiohi with mild to moderate needs. Real Talk is designed to help:

  • develop self-esteem and self-confidence
  • manage and reduce anxiety and depressive symptoms using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), sensory modulation, and mindfulness tools
  • maintain and develop positive relationships
  • decrease feelings of isolation and loneliness, and strengthen resilience
  • All necessary training will be provided.


You will have:

  • A relevant level four certificate
  • An understanding of trauma-informed care and experience working with taiohi
  • Be experienced in or comfortable with group facilitation
  • A current full driver’s licence
  • A current New Zealand first aid certificate, or be prepared to obtain one

  • The sort of person who will listen deeply to the people who use our services
  • A fresh thinker, using curiosity and imagination to generate new ideas
  • Passionate about supporting taiohi to build confidence, and resilience.
