Joining “Team Waipa” in our Transport and Infrastructure business, you will be supporting the Waipa DC Road Maintenance contract as a STMS in Leamington, Cambridge. As a Downer STMS, you will work to ensure the safety of your crew and the public through clear and accurate direction of traffic.

You will be confident leading toolbox and closure briefings with crew, whilst providing clear job details and expectations. You will ensure the accurate following of TM plans, and oversee set up and pack down of road closures and diversions.
You’ll be a core member of the crew and willing to train and upskill our TMOs and junior staff. With the confidence to collaborate with your team and supervisors, you’ll collectively ensure the safety of the Downer crew, subcontractors, and the general public.
This is primarily a Monday – Friday, full time-permanent position and you will be working across Waipa and at times, the South Waikato districts. This will involve occasional weekend and night work.
You will be a physically fit and motivated person and will bring with you.
- A valid STMS warrant
- Proven leadership experience where you’ve held responsibility and accountability for staff and plant.
- A Full Class 2 drivers licence
- Strong planning skills and the ability to deal with unexpected events and problem solve
- Demonstrated leadership strength with the ability to guide, coach, and empower others
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- The ability articulate and demonstrate a thorough understanding of Zero Harm practices
- Be able to carry out manual tasks
- Flexibility is desirable given you will be required to work shift work, and at times get involved in different mahi
- Show commitment to safe work practises
- You will take pride in your work, be a solid team player and like to have a good laugh!
