Interislander & Great Journeys New Zealand have ambitious growth targets. To enable our success, we have brought together the marketing and sales teams to create Kiwirail Passenger Marketing & Trade teams. We are seeking leaders with extensive experience, to be able to lead strategic growth that aligns with the business commercial goals.
The Head of Revenue Passenger is responsible for revenue planning, forecasting, and optimisation to maximise KiwiRail’s passenger service profitability based on market demand modelling. This role drives financial planning, data analytics, and capacity management to ensure commercial success. The Head of Revenue Passenger leads the revenue management teams for Interislander and Great Journeys of New Zealand, overseeing pricing strategies, yield management, and commercial initiatives to enhance revenue performance.
Key accountabilities include:
- Developing financial forecasts and revenue optimisation strategies
- Overseeing pricing and yield financial planning and budget management
- Leading market demand and revenue planning
- Utilising data analytics and performance monitoring to enhance revenue strategies
- Optimising yield and capacity management, balancing supply and demand for profitability
- Developing, implementing and driving commercial and utilisation strategies
- Supporting new product development, conducting cost analysis and pricing assessments
- Clearly communicating strategy to leadership team
- Leading weekly revenue and demand meetings to ensure all teams are across current state of play
- Leading competitor analysis
- Leading the revenue management teams for Interislander and Great Journeys New Zealand

Knowledge and experience
- You have extensive experience in revenue management, financial planning, and commercial strategy
- You are skilled in data analytics, forecasting, and performance monitoring
- You understand pricing models, yield management, and capacity optimisation
- You have experience leading cross-functional teams in revenue and financial management
- You are knowledgeable about passenger transport, tourism, or travel industry revenue strategies
Ways of working / Work-related qualities
- You have extensive experience in revenue management, financial planning, and commercial strategy
- You are skilled in data analytics, forecasting, and performance monitoring
- You understand pricing models, yield management, and capacity optimisation
- You have experience leading cross-functional teams in revenue and financial management
- You are knowledgeable about passenger transport, tourism, or travel industry revenue strategies
- You have a current and valid NZ Driver’s Licence
Qualifications
- You have a degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience
