ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Roading Maintenance Contract Manager/Senior Project Manager will play a pivotal role in managing and coordinating the delivery of our Transport Infrastructure and roading maintenance projects in the region. They will be responsible for ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, maintaining high-quality standards, and fostering positive relationships with stakeholders. Your leadership will drive performance of maintenance teams and construction crews to ensure our roadways remain safe and accessible.

Key accountabilities

  • Operational and Contract Management – Oversee the execution and performance of road maintenance contracts and construction projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Build and maintain relationships with clients, local authorities, and community stakeholders; address concerns and provide updates on maintenance and construction activities.
  • Team Leadership – Lead and mentor a dedicated team of maintenance and construction personnel, providing guidance and support to ensure effective and efficient work practices.
  • Risk and SHEQ Performance - Comply with Risk Management, Quality, and Health, Safety and Environment management systems while promoting our Safe for Life Philosophy.
  • Budget Management – Prepare, monitor, and manage budgets; identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Reporting and Documentation – Prepare regular reports on contract performance, construction and maintenance activities, and financial status for management review.


ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project or contract management within the road maintenance or civil infrastructure sector in New Zealand.
  • Strong knowledge of road maintenance and civil construction practices, safety regulations, and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in project management and use of SAP or other software.
