He angitūtanga / The opportunity:

Join our team at PikoPiko Cafe in Auckland as a Head Chef. You will be responsible for managing kitchen operations in a safe and efficient manner, preparing, cooking, and serving high-quality food for the cafe customers, corporate clients and event goers. It is the head chef who leads the client event and corporate catering alongside the event manager ensuring the food is delicious, consistent, full of flavour and beautifully presented. We are looking for a dynamic, experienced chef and leader to take this team to the next level!

Ko o kawenga / Your responsibilities:

Plan and control menu-based catering, including preparing and costing menus, and ensuring compliance with enterprise costing constraints.
Lead and manage people, developing team commitment and cooperation, managing team performance, and ensuring staff comply with food safety procedures.
Purchase and manage stock, establishing and implementing order and supply processes, and developing optimum supply arrangements.
Prepare, cook, and present food, maintaining high standards of quality and consumer satisfaction.
Develop menus to meet special dietary and cultural needs, and plan, prepare, and display buffets for events or functions.

He kōrero mōu / About you:

  • NZQA Level 4 Cookery Certificate or equivalent trade qualification.
  • Minimum of 4 years proven work record with written references to show levels of expertise and experience.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive outlook and professional manner.
  • Experience and ability to lead and mentor teams.
  • Good communication skills, flexible approach, hardworking, physically fit, and reliable.
