Position Overview
Massey’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital is a fast-paced facility offering New Zealand’s most comprehensive veterinary expertise. We are the only 24-hour pet emergency centre in the central North Island so at times we have a high caseload, and our patients require an exceptional level of nursing care.
We are seeking applications from either qualified Veterinary Nurses or Veterinary Technologists to join our Companion Animal Hospital team in a permanent, full time (nominally 37.5hrs/week) role.
Working primarily in referral services you will support a diverse and fascinating caseload of chronic and acute injuries and disorders, requiring advanced surgical and medical care. As part of the team, you will contribute to the pre- and post-operative care of specialist surgical patients, as well as the management of complex and unique medical and oncology cases.
ABOUT YOU:
The successful applicant will bring demonstrated experience delivering high quality nursing care and technical support as part of a nursing team.
- Veterinary Nursing Qualification, Diploma or above.
- Ideally a minimum of two years’ experience within veterinary companion animal practice, consideration will be given to new graduates of BVT or DVN programmes.
- Natural empathy toward the cultural, emotional, and physical state of our clients and patients alike.
- An initiative-taking team centric and optimistic approach.
- A genuine interest in supporting undergraduate education.

Massey Vets provides 24/7 Emergency Critical care, along with Community Practice and Referral clinics. Nominal hours are Mon-Fri 10am-6pm, however some after hours and on call work (approx. 1 in 12weeks) are required. Your ability and willingness to work on call for evenings, weekends and public holidays is essential. Appointment will reflect skills and experience within the Professional Grade 4 ($48,596 - $71,027) salary range.
