An opportunity has arisen to work as a Senior Libraries & Council Service Assistant in the Manurewa-Papakura Local Board cluster.
This is a permanent, full-time, 40 hours per week position, which includes late night Tuesdays and Saturday shifts. The role is shared between Te Pātaka Kōrero o Waimāhia and Te Pātaka Kōrero o Manurewa. Flexibility is essential, as you may be required to work across libraries within the Manurewa and Papakura Local Board cluster.
He angitūtanga: The opportunity
You will advocate for the Maaori voice and be the 'go to' person for Maaori knowledge & expertise collaborating with Maaori customers and the community. You will plan and deliver Tamariki programming in the whare. Provide exceptional customer service. Including educating customers to use a wide range of library and non-library resources, navigating literacy and social vulnerability issues. This role will be undertaken with a Tamariki lens, and you will be expected to.
He kōrero mōu: About you
You work from an indigenous world view, you recognise mana atua, mana tangata and mana whenua in your practice. You will lead in the space of: maatauranga, ooritetanga and hauora. You will have a passion for delivering Tamariki programming and services in the whare.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and experience of working with people from diverse backgrounds
- Comfortable with technology and able to support customers to successfully use information resources and devices
- Experience working with tamariki and rangatahi
- Willing to assist with the delivery and development of programmes and events
- Flexibility and collaboration across all aspects of your mahi
- Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
- Knowledge/understanding of Te Ao Māori
