Job Description

SwimWell is looking for an Assessor to join their team. This is an exciting new opportunity for someone who is passionate about learning and development and is keen to a help make a difference and support the programmes we provide.

This role is to provide support to staff members to enable them to become fully qualified, independent and competent Aquatic Education Instructors. This in turn supports the SwimWell team to achieve the effective and efficient delivery of SwimWell programmes across the Council pool network.

In this role you will be required to work with the SwimWell leadership team to assess and support their staff's teaching practice and delivery of lessons to created consistency of practice across all our programme locations. You will be required to assess all SwimWell instructors against NZQA unit standards and the SwimWell modules, identify training needs for instructors and provide/facilitate individualized training initiatives and support, to ensure all instructors are adequately trained and supported to perform their role.

This role is a full-time role working Monday to Friday 10am - 6:30pm with occasional weekend work when required.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A background in education or adult learning / teaching is desirable.
  • A strong ability to build and maintain effective and trusting relationships.
  • A passion for coaching and mentoring and enjoy working with adults to develop their skills to thrive in their roles.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to work with and relate well to a broad range of people from a variety of backgrounds, cultures and ages.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in a team environment with excellent organisational skills.
  • A background as an instructor would be helpful but not essential.
  • A Restricted or Full NZ driver's licence.
  • We are looking to appoint from $68,855 per annum, for this role, depending on relevant skills and experience.
