About the role: This position would be a great if you are from a basketball background, for example coaching basketball or event organising. Karori Recreation Centre is a unique multi-use facility catering to a large number of sport and recreation programmes.
As a Recreation Assistant, you will oversee the basketball at Kaori Recreation Centre. This includes planning and running leagues and facilitating our basketball clinics on Wednesdays and Thursdays. There will be a mixture of specialised and operational needs, operational in the sense of participating in other programmes to get across the Centre's business.
This role is 12.5 hours per week. The days/shifts for this role are:
Monday: 6.15pm - 9.15pm (3 hours)
Tuesday: 3pm - 6.30pm (3.5hours)
Wednesday: 4.45pm - 6.45pm (2 hours)
Friday: 3pm - 7pm (4 hours)
To be successful in the role you will:
Have a strong interest in basketball
Have customer service experience
Be passionate about the Sport and Recreation industry
Possess a customer focused and 'can do' attitude
Have great communication and people skills
Have the ability to work in a team and have fun
Have experience working with children
Ideally you will have background and expertise in: School aged sports coaching Sports refereeing Preschool programmes Recreation programme planning.
