Job Description

We are working with a firm that is seeking a Civil Litigation Lawyer with at least 3 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) to join their team in Auckland CBD. This role offers the opportunity to with lawyers that have international experience and specialisation across a range of litigation and alternative dispute resolution areas, focused on local government matters.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for providing expert legal advice in various areas including regulatory compliance, governance advisory and civil litigation. You will be part of a close-knit team that works collaboratively to promote client’s interest.

  • Provide informed legal advice based on in-depth knowledge of local government law;
  • Legal research and analysis;
  • Reviewing and drafting court documents;
  • Handle civil litigation cases and have good case management;
  • Keeping up to date with legal and professional development;
  • Maintain regular and professional communication with stakeholders
  • Offer solutions and advice to clients.


To be Successful in the role you should have:

The ideal candidate for this Civil Litigation Lawyer role will bring:

  • A minimum of 3 years PQE in Civil Litigation. While experience in local government law would be beneficial, it is not mandatory.
  • Be a NZ Qualified solicitor with the right to work in New Zealand.
  • Be a self-starter who can work independently and provide innovative advice in various areas of law.
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Be a team player with a passion to develop your career in this space.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills that enable you to connect with clients and deliver advice that works for their community.
