Te Tūranga – About the role
Are you passionate about crafting intuitive and visually stunning digital experiences? As a Senior Digital UI Designer at Foodstuffs North Island, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of digital products that delight customers and drive business success. You’ll work at the intersection of design, technology, and strategy, collaborating with engineers, product managers, and marketing teams to bring innovative ideas to life. From conceptual thinking to execution, you’ll be responsible for creating seamless, engaging, and customer-centric digital experiences that push boundaries and set new industry standards.
In this role, you will champion user-centred design, ensuring that every pixel serves a purpose. You’ll facilitate design thinking workshops, lead strategic discussions, and advocate for best-in-class UI practices across the organisation. Your expertise in interaction design, prototyping, and visual storytelling will help shape the vision for our digital products, ensuring they are not only functional but also delightful to use. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Design Strategy – Drive high-level design decisions and ensure alignment between business goals and user needs.
- Create Engaging UI – Design and refine digital experiences from concept to delivery, ensuring consistency and usability across products.
- Collaborate & Advocate – Work cross-functionally to integrate design into the product development process, educating stakeholders on the value of great UI.
- Problem-Solving & Innovation – Identify UI challenges, troubleshoot issues, and push creative boundaries to elevate digital experiences.
- Stay Ahead of Trends – Keep up with industry best practices, competitor products, and emerging design innovations to maintain a cutting-edge approach.

You are a passionate and detail-oriented UI designer who thrives on creating intuitive, visually stunning, and customer-focused digital experiences. With at least 5 years of experience in designing for multiple platforms—including at least 3 years in a senior role—you bring a wealth of knowledge in visual design, interaction design, and prototyping. Your ability to balance creativity with functionality ensures that every pixel serves a purpose, enhancing usability and engagement.
Beyond your design expertise, you are a strategic thinker and a collaborative team player. You’re comfortable leading workshops, presenting ideas with confidence, and advocating for best-in-class UI practices across cross-functional teams. You are always pushing boundaries, staying ahead of industry trends, and championing accessibility to deliver experiences that are both innovative and inclusive.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Stellar Visual & Interaction Design – Strong attention to detail, ability to build new design patterns, and ensure pixel-perfect execution.
- Prototyping & Design Thinking – Skilled in user flow creation, information architecture, and rapid prototyping using tools like Sketch, InVision, and Abstract.
- Leadership & Facilitation – Expert in running workshops, presenting designs, and advocating for UI best practices across teams.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration – Proven ability to partner with engineering, product, and marketing teams to launch new products and refine existing ones.
- Continuous Learning & Innovation – Passionate about emerging design trends, data-driven UX, and improving customer experiences across digital and physical touchpoints.
