About the role

Here is the opportunity to showcase your proven technical and leadership expertise in this diverse role. Reporting into the Chief Financial Officer, the Environmental and Sustainability Manager is responsible for strategically and operationally leading the sustainability, environmental and climate strategy and workplan at Sanford. This role is essential to driving the company's sustainability goals, enhancing our environmental performance, and contributing to our commitment to social responsibility. You will have a strong understanding of environmental regulations, sustainability frameworks, and a proven track record of implementing successful sustainability programs.

You will:

  • Integrate sustainability into the mainstream Sanford business with strategy, frameworks, initiatives and reporting focused on material issues, including embedding capacity and integrated thinking at all levels.
  • Plan, lead and support senior management and the Board to develop environmental and social responsibility targets, objectives and KPIs.
  • Manage environmental compliance and audits including our climate related disclosure requirements.
  • Develop the sustainability annual report.
  • Support sustainability reporting to showcase not only Sanford, but the seafood industry and New Zealand on a global scale
  • Show a proven ability to motivate, lead and effectively manage a team



About you:

We are looking for a true expert in their field, with a continuous improvement mindset, the ability to think analytically, and work autonomously.

  • Minimum 7 years' experience in a similar role
  • A Tertiary qualification or equivalent in (environmental sciences, sustainable business development, resource utilisation, management or business studies)
  • Proven experience leading and successfully implementing a sustainability and environmental strategy within an organisation
  • Proven experience preparing annual sustainability reports
  • Proven experience setting and implementing sustainability and environmental KPIs
  • Involvement with Boards in previous roles
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of climate change and environmental priorities
