Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated ECE Assistant Manager / Curriculum Lead to join our Busy Bees Brooklyn whānau. In this pivotal senior leadership role, you will support our Centre Manager in ensuring the smooth operation of our centre while leading and nurturing our team

leaders and teaching team to deliver an inspiring, inclusive, and culturally responsive curriculum.

As a fully registered ECE Teacher you will be a natural leader and will be instrumental in helping to lead, develop and inspire a team of talented teachers. Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Leading the planning, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of our child-led curriculum.
  • Mentoring, coaching, and supporting our teaching team, fostering a collaborative and reflective teaching environment.
  • Promote strong partnerships with parents, whānau, and the community, ensuring they are actively involved in their child’s learning journey.
  • Oversee the assessment and documentation of children’s learning, ensuring practices are culturally responsive and aligned with the learning outcomes and key principles of Te Whāriki.


In collaboration with the Centre Manager support the centre direction by being an active part in driving the strategic goals and internal evaluation.
Stepping into the Centre Manager’s role when needed, maintaining high standards of care and education.

The following skills, knowledge and capabilities are ideally required for this role:

  • A recognised ECE teaching qualification and current NZ Teaching Council Certification
  • At least 2 years of experience in an ECE leadership role in New Zealand, with a strong understanding of the implementation of Te Whāriki in practice and assessment.
  • Passionate about fostering a culturally inclusive and community-orientated learning environment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to professional growth and supporting the development of others.
  • Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage a range of priorities.
  • Understandings of Internal Evaluation and working towards improvement actions.
  • Proven experience implementing compliance practices within the ECE regulations and the licencing criteria.
  • Experience teaching all age groups
