Kōrero mō te Tūranga - About the Role
You will carry out verification activities in accordance with the current legislation and Overseas Market Access requirements, thereby permitting the issue of official assurances for export.
- Carry out performance-based verification audits across a range of primary industry food sectors, biosecurity facilities and export industries.
- Confirming compliance to import and overseas market access requirements.
- Approve the transfer of animal products through eligibility documents to support final assurance for export of animal products.
- Completing inspections of imported animal products for further processing.
- Writing quality assurance reports.
- Managing your own time/calendar efficiently with the workload provided by the team leader.
- Applying Verification Services quality procedures.
Reporting to the Upper South Island Circuit Team Leader this role sits within the Circuit team of the Verification Services directorate. You will be based in Nelson and travel throughout the Nelson, Golden Bay, Marlborough, and West Coast region to carry out verification functions. There is opportunity for travel outside this region. The range of work is diverse and will depend on experience of the successful candidate. This may include surveillance of bivalve shellfish harvesting areas; and verification of egg layer farms, seafood, petfood and value-added processors, among others. Sector specific training is available for suitable candidates.

Mōu - About You
To be successful in this role, you will have a science degree and experience within the food industry. Experience as a Travelling Technical Supervisor is preferential.
Specifically, you will:
- Have knowledge of the principles and practices associated with verification, Good Manufacturing Practices and Quality Assurance systems.
- Have highly effective oral and written communication skills.
- Have a full driver's licence and ability to drive Class 1 vehicles
