Job Description

Are you looking for an opportunity to share your passion for sport and recreation with others? Are you looking for rewarding work in your community?



This 10-hour part-time role is all about sport, recreation, and play. We are getting people of all ages active and having a lot of fun in the process. You will primarily be based at Mercury Baypark Arena, Queen Elizabeth Youth Centre, Welcome Bay Hall and Merivale Action Centre but may be required to work at any of our facilities across the network.



As part of our passionate activation team, you will be responsible for transporting sport and play equipment, undertaking the set-up and presentation of the programme, and facilitation of the activity with high energy.

You will be independently facilitating the programmes with enthusiasm and clear instruction and administer the necessary programme documentation. It is essential to ensure that all participants are safe and supported at all times.



To be successful you must:

  • Have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively;
  • Thrive on working with the community;
  • Have experience working with children;
  • Be a committed and reliable team player, who is able to act in a proactive manner;
  • Be confident, energetic and physically fit;
  • Have the ability to retain professional demeanour and think clearly when under pressure with proven ability to deescalate situations;
  • Have the flexibility to work across all of our programmes/facilities;
  • Full New Zealand driver’s license is essential.


The hours available are:

  • Tuesday 12pm-5pm and 7pm-10pm
  • Wednesday 2.30pm-5.00pm




Bay Venues is the kaitiaki of community facilities in Tauranga. We manage five aquatic facilities, community centres and halls across the city, as well as indoor sports venues, Mercury Baypark, and the University of Waikato Adams Centre for High Performance.
