Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
The Practice Lead, Infrastructure & Network both prepares the University for the future and balances the day-to-day demands of robust, resilient and scalable IT infrastructure and network services. You’ll lead design, provision, operation, security and management of those services across physical, virtual, shared, hosted, and cloud-based capability while anticipating, modelling and shaping capacity and demand across the teaching / learning, research and corporate aspects of the university in a positive and collaborative team environment.
Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
Monitor emerging technologies in your area including where they might fit with the University
Lead the design, deployment and management of enterprise infrastructure and network services
Manage and support the infrastructure and networks effectively across availability, capacity, storage, performance and reliability and resilience
Provide expert advice and design and/or implement prototypes
Drive business change through financial, technical, and strategic alignment
Foster team performance and engagement
Collaborate to meet university technology strategies
Ko koe tēnei | Who You Are
Tertiary qualified in IT or business management, or equivalent experience
Extensive leadership experience in IT, particularly in infrastructure and networks
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in an IT or IT-related leadership role
Proven ability to manage transformation projects and vendor relationships
Demonstrated comfort with ambiguity and uncertainty and, crucially, challenging change
Knowledge of strategic IT issues, especially in educational or government contexts

Many of the IT Services teams and business stakeholders are based on our Palmerston North campus, which is the preferred location for this role. Consideration may be given for the right candidate to be based at our Wellington Campus, however regular travel (minimum of 1 day per week) to Palmerston North will be required.
This is a full time (37.5hrs) role and appointment will be commensurate of skills and experience within the $130 - $170K range.
