About the role
Shopify cannot exist without trust. Security engineers at Shopify protect millions of merchants and their buyers. They’re laser focused on defending against ever-evolving threats that put our merchants’ trust at risk every day. They use all of the tools in their security toolkit to create the fortress of global commerce, like auditing, vulnerability assessment, and penetration testing.
As a senior technical leader on the Merchant Authentication team, you’ll shape the way millions of merchants build their businesses on Shopify. Protect merchants by securing access to our systems and eliminating common attack patterns, and accelerate them by building a world-class passwordless experience backed by robust multi-factor authentication. This is an area where we want to adopt the latest technology, innovate in UX excellence, and provide a seamless experience across various merchant-facing applications.
To be a good fit, you should:
- Have an impressive and demonstrable background in application security and distributed systems
- Possess a deep knowledge of Ruby, TypeScript, MySQL, and Linux, or master them quickly
- Be a skilled communicator, both verbally and in writing
- Drive technical excellence with a high degree of ownership
