Job Description

Our client is on the hunt for a dependable and knowledgeable Assistant Accountant to become an integral part of their finance team. This role presents an exciting chance to share your financial expertise, including Accounts Payable / Receivable and monthly reports, with a well-established organisation. Key Responsibilities:

As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the financial health of our client's organisation. Your daily tasks will involve managing end-to-end accounting processes for various entities, handling both Accounts Payable and Receivable, overseeing payroll, preparing reconciliations on all corporate bank accounts, posting monthly journals, preparing monthly Profit & Loss statements for senior management, and assisting with Year End & interim external audit requests. Your excellent organisational skills will be key in managing these responsibilities effectively.

  • Manage end-to-end accounting processes for various entities
  • Handle Accounts Payable responsibilities, from invoicing to payment processing
  • Oversee payroll for entities
  • Manage Accounts Receivable - creating invoices to receipt and allocate payments
  • Prepare reconciliations on all corporate bank accounts
  • Post monthly journals (accruals, stock take journals etc)
  • Prepare monthly Profit & Loss statements and commentary for senior management
  • Balance Sheet substantiation reconciliations prepared every 6 months
  • Assist with Year End & interim external audit requests


Key Requirements:

The ideal Assistant Accountant candidate will bring a wealth of previous experience in Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable. You may have an accounting qualification or be working towards this. Your high level of organisational ability will enable you to manage multiple tasks efficiently. You are comfortable working autonomously but also understand the importance of teamwork. Experience with XERO would be highly advantageous, as would good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite. Exposure to payroll would also be beneficial.

  • Previous experience in Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable is essential
  • An accounting qualification, or working towards this, is preferred
  • High level of organisational ability is required
  • Ability to work autonomously and also as part of a team is necessary
  • Experience with XERO is highly desirable
  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite is needed
  • Exposure to payroll would be beneficial
