Ko tō tūranga – your role
The Technical Data Business Analyst (TDBA) Chapter is a critical function within AI & Data at One NZ. The chapter is responsible for bridging the gap between business requirements and technical solutions. The TDBA - Data Governance role is responsible for driving data governance initiatives, ensuring data quality, compliance and integrity across the organisation. This role involves collaborating with the business and technical stakeholders to define data policies, implement governance frameworks and support data-driven decision-making.


Ko tō mahi – what you’ll do

  • Oversee and streamline data approval workflows to ensure an efficient and seamless process.
  • Manage user access, data ingestion, and data quality rules to uphold high standards of data governance.
  • Support the data governance function by ensuring compliance with the governance framework, policies, and standards.
  • Identify and address risks associated with data management and governance.
  • Collaborate on the development and maintenance of a data catalog, ensuring clear and accurate metadata documentation.
  • Monitor and report on data governance metrics while supporting the implementation of technical solutions.
  • Bridge the gap between business requirements and technical solutions.
  • Support Data Engineers and Architects with data solutions and pipeline design to meet business requirements.
  • Identify source data, source platform(s) and logical flow, clarify required fields, then document the required artefacts.
  • Document knowledge gained for others to benefit from in future work.
  • Support the Product Owner to manage stakeholders across using clear written and verbal communication.
  • Support the Product Owner to assess the desirability (customer value)


Na tōu rourou - what you’ll bring

  • Preferably with experience working with Data Governance Tool Collibra or alternatively, technical knowledge of other Data Governance tools.
  • Strong knowledge of data engineering and data warehousing principles, techniques, and methodologies.
  • Effective relationship and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Ability to document processes and findings with clarity and precision.
  • Skills in identifying gaps and opportunities for value creation within Data Governance practices.
  • Structured approach to managing and administering Data Governance platform.
  • Understanding of Kimball methodologies.
  • Experience in a Scrum environment.
  • Experience in on-premises and cloud environments, ideally AWS and/or Azure.
