As a Tax Senior Associate at PwC Hawkes Bay, you'll work with a diverse range of clients, assist with complex and varying tax issues as well as provide clients with tax effect accounting and annual tax compliance support. We are looking for a super star whose experience will enable them to hit the ground running.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the wider team with providing expert advice on tax matters to a diverse client base, ranging from high net wealth individuals and family trusts to large corporates and multi-nationals. You will offer tailored solutions that align with their unique needs.
  • Assist with the management of a client portfolio.
  • Prepare / review technical tax compliance work, including tax effect accounting, IFRS tax note disclosures and tax returns.
  • Provide coaching to associates to assist with their career development.
  • Assist organisations in identifying risk areas and sustainable planning opportunities throughout the tax life cycle, ensuring compliance and maximising tax benefits.
  • Engage in the planning and execution of multiple projects with precision and efficiency, delivering exceptional results for our clients.


Ngā pūkenga kei a koe / Skills and experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members.
  • Commerce / Accounting and / or Law degree.
  • 3-4+ years of experience in a tax team at a Big 4 or second tier CA environment, or in a tax advisory role (e.g. in house or at a law firm), demonstrating a solid foundation in New Zealand tax legislation.
  • Proficiency in tax effect accounting, preparation of tax note disclosure and annual tax compliance.
  • Base accounting knowledge and the ability to read and interpret financial statements.
  • Understanding of software tools such as Xero (XPM), Excel and data analytic tools, utilising technology to deliver efficient solutions. Experience with TaxLab is desirable, but not essential.
  • Strong ties to the Hawkes Bay or willingness to relocate is essential.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and acute attention to detail.
