Job Description

The Role:

Bear Park Herne Bay, based on Shelly Beach Road, is in a character filled, homely bungalow, with a modern, purpose-built extension. The extension was designed to allow natural light to spill into the interior, creating learning spaces that are connected, inviting and well-equipped.

We are looking for a teacher to join us as our Atelierista on a part time basis, 4 days per week. There may be some flexibility in hours for the right candidate. This is a fabulous position for a teacher with a background in science, technology, fine arts, visual arts or other creative outlet.

An Atelierista brings a unique artistic expertise to our learning community by expanding and deepening the ideas of young children through the diversity of the materials they offer. Working closely in collaboration with the Centre Director, teachers, and children, the Atelierista provides the highest quality of experiences and expression.

As our Atelierista, your responsibilities would include:

  • Support ongoing learning investigations and groups.
  • Facilitate and sustain a system to introduce and explore a diverse array of expressive materials, introducing the potential and possibilities of these.
  • Develop meaningful experiences with multiple languages including digital technologies, light, paint, clay, nature, recycled, movement and sound.
  • Ability to document the processes and elevate the visibility of children’s ideas and theories.
  • Inspire teachers through diverse perspectives.
