He aha te mahi? What's the role?

This key role is an essential member of the Shipping team, part of the overall Zespri Supply Chain. Shipping are responsible for the procurement and management of shipping capacity for the supply of NZ origin fruit on both Chartered Reefer Ships and Liner Container Services to meet offshore market demand.

The role of Container Logistics Coordinator is to arrange shipping capacity over multiple shipping lines and services, planning customer orders to meet market demand. Ensuring the carrier capacity contracts are respected, and market requirements achieved. To manage supplier load windows, and daily container operations requirements. Delivery of the container shipping program, according to schedule and resolving any logistical issues in NZ and in Market. Working closely with Planning and Supply, Technical & TKL to coordinate daily logistics and container activities.

Key Accountabilities include:

Container Shipping Program

  • Ensuring weekly export requirements are processed under correct line requirements
  • Monitoring shipping schedule changes, alerting marketing of potential delays
  • Liaise with shipping lines for vessel capacity and container equipment availability
  • Resolve any capacity surplus or shortage with the carrier
  • Manage and maintain SAP bookings and reports, relating to service changes, volume variabilities
  • Provide a point of contact for onshore operations and container lines.


Container Logistics

  • Coordinate weekly container release requirements, and resolve issues with equipment supply
  • Manage onshore container logistics through close liaison with TKL, to reduce any potential delays in the supply chain
  • Ensure container temperature management is in line with Technical team’s requirements
  • Problem solving reject or faulty container issues
  • Respond to execution changes


Container Market Support

  • Ensuring required market demand and/or capacity plan aligns with shipping requirements
  • Create/maintain Ocean Bookings in TM to reflect plans
  • Managing suppliers load windows to meet documentation requirements
  • Respond to any market demand and/or capacity plan modelling change
  • Run the daily work list for Freight Units to be planned for immediate action.
  • Support the Demand and Supply coordinators regarding container shipments
  • Manage port swaps as requested by suppliers
  • Check the capacity reserved on the intended ocean booking satisfies the quantity in the order received.
  • Trigger electronic shipment to allow order allocation to be released to supplier.
  • Receive electronic confirmation that deliveries have been created in Transportation Management (TM) or liaise with delivery creating team if deliveries are overdue.
  • Advise Sales Ordering of any capacity changes / options that may be require
  • Approve free time on behave of markets
  • Build and Maintain strong relationships with Key Stakeholders


Innovation

  • Continue to develop container line and personal KPI’s and reporting capability through SAP and Inttra.

We are looking for a strong team player who is ambitious and is capable of coordinating and handling communications with our internal team and shipping partners. This individual will also have:

  • 2+ years experienced in shipping and/or international trade
  • Specialized knowledge in shipping/transport of refrigerated produce
  • Logistics and planning experience desirable.
  • Highly developed computer skills (SAP, Intermediate Excel, word)
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced pressured environment
