Job Description
AFFCO is currently seeking a passionate Improvement Engineer to join their Engineering team.
As an Improvement Engineer, you will lead projects from the scoping stage through to the delivery of new or upgraded assets. Your role will encompass a variety of responsibilities, including:
- Identifying and delivering automation and improvement projects
- Enhancing engineering and asset maintenance processes, improving reliability and uptime
- Be involved in engineering procurement
- The ideal candidate will have project management experience, driving project from scoping stage to delivery of new or amended assets. The ideal candidate will also have some experience with asset maintenance processes.
It includes identification and delivery of automation projects. Tasks will include costing, preparation of payback and, depending on size and complexities of the project, project management of the install through to commissioning.
You will also need to manage any additional secondary effects to ensure the smooth running of our plants for all our front-line plant process workers. You are to work with both our trades and operations teams to ensure your projections align with their needs. You will also work closely with contractors to scope and tender each project.
Key objectives:
- Identify and propose effective solutions toward the improvement of processing capabilities and process optimization and utilization of plant machinery.
- Prepare cost saving business cases which include detailed capex preparation, project timelines, cost quotations and payback calculations.
- Development of Standard Operating Procedures to ensure machinery / product is being utilised effectively and is fit for purpose.
- Effectively implement change management processes while striving for continuous improvement.
- Support sites with engineering and maintenance improvements
This position is primarily located at Horotiu Head Office in the Waikato region, however, does require frequent domestic travel to sites based on the projects and improvements you are assigned.
Qualifications
The successful applicants will demonstrate the following:
- Holds an Engineering degree or other relevant tertiary qualification
- Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with all key stakeholders including the Trades team, operations team and external consultants, contractors and suppliers on a regular basis.
