We are a NZ owned and operated food box delivery start-up, seeking someone to assist/cover our Production Manager. We pride ourselves on providing a fun and friendly workplace, that sets out to provide a range of quality produce for our dedicated and loyal customer base.
About the Role:
This is a hands-on, high-energy role that shifts between slow-paced preparation days and fast, intense production days. We need someone who thrives in both settings—meticulously setting up for success one day and diving headfirst into the action the next.
At Wonky Box, the real work gets done by a motivated, skilled team that pulls together to make things happen. You’ll be right in the thick of it, helping keep operations smooth, spotting challenges before they arise, and speaking up with solutions. If you’re someone who loves a mix of structure and chaos, can think on your feet, and isn’t afraid to roll up your sleeves, this role is for you!
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct support to the Production Supervisor to facilitate smooth and efficient pack days.
Set up the production line on Tuesdays and engage in preparation activities.
Available for additional work on Fridays and Sundays, to alternate with the Production Supervisor to either pack down on a Friday or prepare Office Boxes on a Sunday.
Manage label printing, stocktake forms, and label and box checks.
Execute pack line setups and product changeovers to optimise production line efficiency.
Prepare raw materials for packing days and oversee product replenishment.
Operate forklifts and drive a box truck as required (Car license).
Conduct end-of-week stocktakes for produce, pantry, and raw materials.
Perform quality control (QC) checks on packed boxes before they go through the finished tape sealing machine, ensuring product placement and overall quality meet company standards.
Identify and report any quality issues or inconsistencies to the Production Supervisor.
Complete end of week crate/pallet returns and enter these return numbers into our system.
Help with cleaning and keeping the warehouse tidy.
Qualifications:
Forklift certification (or we can arrange for the right candidate).
Knowledge and experience with label printing and stock management.
Familiarity with incident reporting procedures.
Proficiency with Excel and computer systems.
Experience in fresh produce handling is a bonus!
Requirements:
Availability for all designated shifts: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and alternating Fridays and Sundays - roughly 28-34 hours per week.
Reliable personal transportation.
Strong commitment to punctuality and a solid work ethic.
Be able to address/manage the wider team and give out instructions.
Capability to maintain a rapid work pace.
Willingness to participate in clean-up post-packing and ensure the Warehouse is kept clean and tidy.
Ability to follow detailed instructions in a high-pressure and noisy environment.
Physical endurance to stand for extended periods, in cool conditions.
Attention to detail in product handling and willingness to uphold quality control standards.
Prompt reporting of any quality issues to the supervisor or individual packers.
Flexibility with varying shift end times.
